Last week, the horticulture team within Judson FFA program traveled to Huntsville, Texas to compete in their state competition. This is the first time that this group has placed at state since Mr. Jay Trees has led the program

“It felt great that we managed to get that high and place with our event,” junior Dylan Cole said.

More than 15,400 students began the statewide tournament in 28 different events. Judson FFA placed 9th in nursery and landscaping. Along with Cole, team members include seniors Ariana Rangel, Stephen Morales, and Alexa Milstein.

“This program has allowed me to be more accountable and studious,” Cole said.

Hopefully, going into his senior year, he hopes to advance to state again.

“I have to think more thoroughly, think about our small mistakes. That is what cost us,” Cole said.

By going over the little things they had trouble with during state, they can see how much work ethic they can build as a team. Work ethic is crucial to building a strong team.
