10 Study Tips To Make You A Better Student
There is no doubt that students want to be successful in school. However, some students don’t know how to get there, and what it takes to be better. One of the many things is to know how to properly study. Below, we give you 10 tips on how to become a better studier.
Study alone. Unless you’ve got a couple of friends who are really serious about getting down to business, stay away from study sessions in a group because they tend to get off-topic pretty fast. Save the social time till after you are done studying. You’ll have plenty of that once you get your diploma.
Create a perfect study environment. When you try to find some place to study, you should try a quiet place like a library or your bed room free of noise and distractions like television, music, and computers and your phone. Especially your phone.
Get all study material out. Before you dig in, make sure you have all your books, notes, study guides, and writing utensils with you wherever you are. Don’t give yourself an excuse to get up and rummage around.
Turn your notes into flash cards. When you have everything ready, turn you notes into flash cards. It makes it simpler and easier to study. For instance, when you studying any subject, write the first topic on one side, and then the key details and important info on the other side.
Put yourself to the test. Once you’ve got your flash cards, test yourself. If you don’t think that you cannot cheat, give the cards to your parents or a friend and have them test you. Don’t stop studying till you’ve gone through ever subject and till you feel confident with the information. Be sure to bring your flash cards to school with you on the day of the test so you can study right before your test.
Narrow it down. If you try to study everything your teacher’s ever said or given to you, you’ll go crazy. Instead, focus on the most important topics or read the study guide (if there is one), or ask your classmates. Once you’ve gone through the important stuff, and you have extra time to study, go over the other little details.
Take a break. Your brain can only take so much hard work at one time. Do something that is stress free like take a walk, listen to music, watch some TV, or take a 15 min nap. This will keep you from getting too stressed and will let you relax.
Get sleep. You might be tempted to pull an all-nighter. If you do, you’ll only be hurting your chances of getting an A on that test. Get a full 8 hours of sleep so your brain is in good shape on test day.
Snack healthy while you study. If you want to stay sharp while you study, stay away from junk food. Instead, snack on friendly foods like whole grains, peanut butter, milk and seafood. Do you feel exhausted? Instead of drinking caffeine or energy drinks, get your energy boost by eating a banana or an apple.
Study all semester long. Try to hold off on studying till the last minute and take some time throughout the semester to review all of your notes and re-read important notes and text in your book. It will keep all those important facts in your brain so you can be ready for the test.
Study with tips that are not hard to follow. You’ll be less stressed and will get a good grade on your test.
