Karizma Brooks celebrates the Rockets win against Wagner.

Karizma Brooks started out playing basketball as a post player, but she always loved volleyball. With little to no experience, she decided to try out for her middle school volleyball team. She described it as “a new experience to look stupid!”

During the summer of 2014, she decided to try out for the Lady Rocket volleyball team. “I was already nervous when I first walked in.” she said. “I got to thinking about how I felt trying out for basketball the first time.”

After 3 days of conditioning & anxiety, she found out that she made the varsity volleyball team, the only freshmen on the varsity volleyball team. “I was jumping off the walls happy. I just couldn’t believe it I was just over the moon.”

Brooks is the 2nd freshman in Judson High School history to make our Varsity team as a freshman after Topaz Bennet. The team is still early in the season, but the volleyball players are already seeing her impact on the squad.

“Karizma is a really good player and is amazing friend,” Brittany Allen said. When not on the volleyball court, she is just like every other teenager girl – she loves to watch television and just be… a teenage girl.
