Junior Cameron White is currently working on an independent study program. White is ranked at the top of his class.

In a rare and historic achievement, junior Cameron White received a perfect score on the AP Computer Science A test. According to White, he was told no one in the history of Judson High School has ever received this score.

“On Tuesday, my mom got home with a letter from College Board,” White said. “I thought it was my SAT scores, but I knew it couldn’t be. I opened it, read it and got excited.”

Trevor Packer, Senior Vice President of AP and Instruction for College Board, sent White a personalized letter addressing his achievement.

“We applaud your hard work, diligence, and enthusiasm and wish you many future success,” the letter said.

Out of 65,000 people who took the test worldwide, White is one of 193 students who scored a perfect score.

“I studied a lot,” White said.

When White’s mom read the letter, she just hugged him.

“When my teacher called my mom, she came home, hugged me and cried,” White said.

Today was even more special. On top of his name being announced on the morning announcements, it was the one-year anniversary of his uncle’s death.

“The announcements turned what could have been a bad day into an amazing day,” White said.

His next step was to tell Mr. John Alamo, the computer science teacher.

“He was just super proud,” White said. “I told him that it’s because of him, but he told me that it was all me.”

Computer science is a discipline that is incredibly high demand.

“I started doing it freshmen year and had a great teacher [in Alamo],” White said. “It’s interesting because you never stop learning. There’s always something new to learn. It’s constantly challenging.”

Right now, White wants to attend the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in computer science. Multiple organizations rank the program as number two in the nation.
