On Monday, Feb 13th, the Lady Rockets (22-11) faced off against the Churchill Chargers (20-4) in their first playoff game of the season.

The Lady Rockets came out on fire being led by senior Aaliyah Henderson scoring the first 8 points of the game. The first quarter of the game was all Rockets where they kept applying the pressure getting steals allowing fastbreak points and extending the lead to 14-4. Senior Ashia Delaine ended the quarter with a tough layup which electrified the crowd to go into the second with the Lady Rockets leading 16-4.

At the start of the second quarter, the Lady Rockets maintained their great start by scoring back-to-back layups by sophomore Kayla King, followed by two more layup scores from Delaine, and senior Zaadiyah Stovall giving them a large lead of 24–13. The rest of the quarter was uneventful which took the game into halftime 25-13.

The third quarter began with an explosive and 1 by freshman Laney Arredondo with a free throw, making the score 28-18. Not long after, the Lady Rockets continued to strike with a great half-spin fadeaway from King to an erupting crowd, making the score 32-18 and giving them a commanding lead. The rest of the quarter was back and forth taking them into the final quarter with a score of 39-25.

To start the fourth quarter of the game it was really slow. The Chargers started making shots that sparked a comeback but that was quickly shut down when Delaine got a good shot block in the paint. This quarter was definitely slow-paced with little to no scores from the Rockets until Arredondo hit a great euro-step layup that really sealed the game with a score of 43-34.

For the next game, the Lady Rockets (23-11) will face off against the Lake Travis Cavaliers (26-9) on Thursday, Feb 2/16, 6 pm at Lehman High School.
