What made you want to become an officer for the dance team?
“I wanted to become an officer because I have a passion for leadership. Being a role model for others is something I truly cherish. I love to be that figure who people can look up to, whether in terms of skills or personal character. I am grateful to know that I can boost others’ confidence and help them understand that it’s perfectly okay to make mistakes as long as they keep getting back up. My goal everyday is to encourage those around me to reach their fullest potential and to help them believe in themselves as much as I believe in them!”
Has there ever been a moment where you regretted joining the dance team?
“I have never regretted trying out for the dance team, as it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Growing together as individuals and building a strong bond with my teammates is truly irreplaceable. We spend so much time together, supporting one another as we share the same experiences. Being part of the dance team not only rewards you with friendship and sisterhood but also instills discipline, self-determination, and a positive outlook. It reminds us that there is always room for improvement and growth, not just as athletes but as individuals as well.”
What is one song that you listen to that helps hype you up before a dance competition or performance and why?
“While I don’t have a specific song that “hypes” me up, I find myself drawn to “Reckless Love” by Cory Asbury. Whether it’s for a competition, performance, or just a regular day. This heartfelt song beautifully describes the overwhelming and unconditional love of God. It speaks to how the Lord’s love is persistent and always seeks us out, regardless of our circumstances. The powerful and relentless nature of God’s love reassures me that I am never alone and always valued, reminding me that everything I do is for His glory.”
What is your least favorite subject and why?
“My least favorite subject would have to be math (sorry Ms. Bosquez <3). I really do love math when I understand it because I can get the groove of knowing I understand something to where I’m confident in it. But it’s really when it gets very over complicated that’s where it starts to lose me a little bit.”
What is the thing you are looking forward to most for your last year of high school next year?
“I am eagerly looking forward to so many things next year! I can’t wait to take on the role of colonel and lead my team, aiming to leave a lasting impact on the underclassmen by encouraging them to strive for greatness and never settle for less. I believe that with dedication and hard work, you can achieve your goals. I am also very excited to begin my college campus tours. I’ve already had a couple of colleges reach out to me personally, and I can’t wait to fully experience my last year of high school and create countless memories that I will cherish forever!”
Would you rather eat soup for the rest of your life or eat sandwiches for the rest of your life?
“If I had to choose between sandwiches and soup, I would easily choose sandwiches. I really don’t like the texture of soup or anything about it, really. But sandwiches are always my go to for after school, after practice, and just to help myself.”
