Rocket boys basketball falls to New Braunfels in last game of season
On February 14, 2023, the Rockets faced off against the Unicorns at Judson’s home gymnasium.
In the first quarter, the Rockets came out strong making a few threes, and the Unicorns countered, tying the game 7-7. At the end of the quarter, the Rockets had some mental errors and mistakes that ended the first quarter with a score of 15-21, Unicorns.
The Rockets started off the second quarter strong in the paint and dominated. Later in the quarter, Junior Josh Martin made a three, giving them momentum, putting the score to 33-36, Unicorns. After that, the Rockets started turning over the ball and missing critical shots, putting them down going into halftime, 33-41, Unicorns.
Coming out of halftime both teams were doing great, but the Unicorns wanted it more and that extended their lead to 39-51. The Rockets then traded threes with the Unicorns, the score 47-59 Unicorns. The Rockets ended the quarter with two threes, cutting their deficit down to 50-60, Unicorns.
To start the fourth quarter the Rockets came out really slow, giving up many buckets and putting them down even more, 58-72, Unicorns. The Rockets started hitting shots and making plays, but it was too late and they fell short and lost the game 66-80. This was the Rockets’ last game of the season, good work seniors for the past four years. Until next season.
