Art classes tend to get a bad reputation because most students think that you just have to be good at drawing to be in the class. However, this is incorrect. Art is about visually exploring your inner creative self and testing yourself to your abilities.
Judson participated in “Big Art Day,” a state wide event that promotes visual art. This is the 4th year that this event has occurred. Margaret Trost, an art teacher here at Judson, organized this year’s event for the campus.
“All of the art teachers wanted get their day in the sun,” Trost said.
The art department’s idea was to get banners out to every student in their advisory class period. The main goal of these banners was for each student to be as creative as possible. All of the banners were collected on March 5, and were displayed the very next day. These banners can now be seen throughout the halls and throughout the school, creating a sense of community on campus through art.
“We want art to standout so it can get visual communication good or bad,” Trost said.
Although the art department received a low number of banners, they were happy with the banners they received; indicating that art still has a value.
