On February 7, 2024 Judson Rockets Boys Basketball defeated the San Marcos Rattlers in a lop-sided victory 70-50.
The game was buzzing with energy from the first to the fourth, due to the exciting plays from the Rockets and crowd participation.
The first quarter began with the Rockets and Rattlers trading buckets, though, the Rockets defensive stops and well-timed threes put them up and forced the San Marcos coach to call a timeout with only 6 minutes elapsed from the first. After the timeout, the Rattlers were able to get to the free throw line and try to get their offense going 19-12.
The Rockets made some big offensive and defensive plays in the second quarter, being able to take advantage of the missed shots by the Rattlers. The Rockets couldn’t miss and were very strategic at playing physical with the Rattlers without fouling.
In the third quarter, the Rattlers tried their best to make a dent into the Rockets lead, but the Rockets weren’t rattled by the effort. The Rockets were able to push their lead to 18 late in the third quarter causing the Rattlers to call Timeout, as they were not able to handle the offensive storm of the Rockets. The third quarter ended 53-37 with the Rockets having momentum leading them into the final frame.
In the fourth, the Rockets added onto their lead going up 17 points on the Rattlers. However, despite the substantial lead, a couple of slam dunks and big shots from deep kept the crowd entertained.
The game ended 70-50 to bring the Rockets record for the season to 20-11 overall and 5-3 in district play. The Rockets play the Steele Knights in their Senior Night, and last game of the district schedule, on Friday Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.
