Volleyball Wins District Opener
With ten returning seniors, three juniors and three freshmen, the Judson Varsity Volleyball team is on their way to another successful season. Once again facing some of the top schools in the city, the Lady Rockets are in for a tough schedule this season.
Already having faced O’Connor, MacArthur, and Reagan before district play, this team has a 13-13 record after facing Churchill on Tuesday September, 9. With their new district being 25-6A, the Rockets will new foes including Steele, Clemens, Canyon, Smithson Valley, and New Braunfels. It’s certainly not going to be a cakewalk to clench a playoff spot this year.
Facing Clemens in their first district game of the year, the Lady Rockets did not know what to expect, as it was their first time ever playing this team. The game was set to be played at Clemens High School, so the team knew they would have to play hard against this unknown team and stay focused to block out the opponent’s rowdy fans.
Thankfully, the Rockets had many supporters show up and cheer them on as they played a fierce game against the Buffalos. Winning the game in 5 sets, the Rockets were able to clench their first district victory of the year, setting a good pace for the remainder of the season.
