On December 12, 2017, the Judson Rocket Band’s annual holiday concert was held in the main auditorium in the PAC.
Every year, the band winter concert is the start to their concert season where they transition from football season to performing indoors. The students went all out with holiday spirit as they prepared for their holiday concert, from having lights on their instruments to having festive hats.
“Getting to be all festive with everyone and dress up all together was the best part of the night,” sophomore Justin Martinez said.
At the start of their holiday concert, the jazz band had the audience hooked. Members in band played instruments from bass guitar all the way to saxophone.
“The band is full of so much talent and I think this upcoming season is going to be great,” head band director Jeffrey Keyes said.
There was a group of five band members who formed a brass quintet to showcase their band talents in a special way.
“I got to perform with some of my closest friends before they graduate,” junior Tejas Fruean said, who performed in the quintet.
Through band, many students have developed many new friends that they will continue to stay with even after graduation comes.
“Band got me my best friend and I got to meet so many new people,” Fruean said.
At the end of the concert, the band went out with a bang when all the bands performed together spread out across the whole auditorium, playing Sleigh Ride. This was the kickoff to the band’s concert season.
