Rocket Revue is a pop show that our Judson High School Choirs host every year. It has been held every year since 2000. This year’s theme is Walk on the Red Carpet. The choirs will be performing Grammy, Tony & Oscar nominated songs.

Kathryn Sherrill & David Short are the choir directors. To better prepare their choirs for this upcoming Rocket Revue, and any choir competitions, Sherrill and Short coach students to control breathing when singing, how to read music, how to control their notes.

“I hope they put on a professional, worthy performance,” Short said.

This year’s concert will include eight choirs performing group acts & 15 solo performances. These eight choirs include Chorale (men & women), Cantate (varsity choir), Ladies A cappella, Concert Women, Nova (beginner’s choir) and Brothers ensemble (men’s choir). Chorale & Cantate are performance-based choirs that emphasize vocal development, artistry, music literacy, and exploring a variety of music genres.

Riana Gatson, an alto in Chorale & Cantate, performed “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King, last year. It was her first time performing in Rocket Revue.

“It was intense, amazing, awesome, adrenalin rush, just about everything you could think of,” Gatson said. Gatson plans on performing again in this year’s Rocket Revue.

Rocket Revue will be held on May 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center located on the right side of Judson High school. Tickets will cost $5 each with only 800 seats available this year so be sure to pre order your tickets.
