On October 24, the Judson Choir performed in their annual fall concert, their first performance of the season.

“This choir year has been off to a wonderful start,” head choir director David Short said.

All eight choir groups including Cantate, Ladies Acapella, and even some alumni, performed. The choirs sang a total of 17 music pieces such as Gloria, Laudamus Te, and Domine Fili Unigenite.

“All the choirs did amazing [because they] got to showcase all the things that they learned. It is  going to be a really good year for us,’’ senior McKenzie Giger said

Aside from their concerts, the choirs also competed in UIL and other competitions. Chorale had the highest placement out of 20 schools this year with 33 students placing their fall regional competition. Out of the 33 students placing, 24 were ranked in the top ten in their respective audition room and are moving on to the next round of competition.

“I qualified for region [and] I made fourth chair,” Giger said. “It was a good experience for my  senior year. Even for the other kids who participated and did not make it, they get to go on to next year with that experience.”

As they work hard, the students create the family-like bond with events such as guys night and girls night. They offer a relaxation period and they are looking forward to the end of the year choir banquet.

“Girls night this year was the best. We sang karaoke, ate pizza, and just all bonded together over our love of music and choir,” sophomore Natalee Lopez said.

With the high expectations that the choir program has set so far, everybody is ready to see more great things from them. The next choir concert is the annual holiday concert held in December.
