IMUV cameras are brand new body cameras made for the Judson High School officers on our campus to  help insure the safety of all students attending our school. The purpose of the body cameras, according to Officer Frank Garcia, is for any legal matters that may arise. “The device is used for my protection and the protection of the public,” Garcia said.

The device can be used as evidence in front of a jury to show that the officer was being professional in case of any false accusations. The device will also help if he is dealing with someone doing an illegal act by recording any action the suspect is making.

The new cameras can significantly influence safety for our campus. As students become aware of the body cameras, and other cameras on our campus, they are more hesitant to break the rules. The costs for the new cameras the officers were given were about $150.

The new body cameras allow law enforcement to have for better quality video and audio for the officers. The IMUV cameras are placed on the officer’s chest because it is level to most students, and it gets a good description of the person committing an act. The cameras show the date, time, and gives you an idea on the type of weather being shown on an IMUV camera.

The IMUV cameras help ensure the safety for both our Judson High School police officers, but our students on our campus as well. The new cameras were especially designed to ensure the safety of everybody in view.
