Girls baksetball blast by Reagan

On Friday, December 9, the Lady Rockets (9-4) faced off against the Reagan Rattlers (6-12) on Judson’s home court. The Lady Rockets have been playing lights out for couple of early games and are hoping to continue their domination at home.

“We can’t turn the ball over. We need to box out in the paint,” head coach Trivia Corrales said. “Everyone has to execute on every play and finish strong”

In the first quarter, Judson won the tip off and small forward Kyra White didn’t hesitate to make a three point shot to open up the game. With strong defensive stands, the Lady Rockets forced the Rattlers to turn the ball over and give Judson an open layup by White. With a frustrating start, the Rattlers fouled White to make it 7-0. White being the key factor to their early success, she added another three pointer to make the game 10-0. Judson made a foul giving  the Rattlers two free throws, which they made, to give them their first points of the game. With the first quarter about to end, point guard Mia Davis closed the first quarter with a steal and layup to make it 12-2.

The Rattlers didn’t hesitate to attempt to make a fast start by adding a three pointer to make it 14-5. With Lewis dominating the paint and boxing out to get rebounds, she was a big factor to their success in the second quarter. Shooting guard Samara Clark came in the mix and drained a three pointer to make it 21-7. With the Rattlers running out of stamina, they called a timeout to make adjustments. Judson went into the half with a 24-7 lead over the Rattlers.

Opening up the second half, Davis found center Heaven Mbaruk to try to attempt a three point play with the foul. With amazing defensive performance by White, Judson forced a turnover to make it 30-7. Reagan put their first points of the second half with a fast break to make it 30-9. Judson aggressive defense still in play forced the Rattlers to turn the ball over. With the end of the third quarter, the Lady Rockets led Reagan 38-9 going to the last quarter.

Judson continued to dominate on both ends of the court in the fourth quarter and with a couple of fast breaks from center Sabrina Allen to power forward Tiffany McGarity to make it 44-15. Clark added a three pointer to make it 47-18. With Reagan having some momentum, they drained two three pointers to make to make it 51-26. With the final minute approaching, Gonzales sealed it with the last shot of the game to end it with a score of 54-26. Judson improved to 10-4 and Reagan fell to 6-13.

With Judson dominating both ends of the court, they cruised by the Reagan Rattlers and hope to do the same when they face off against the Churchill Chargers (5-11).
