Softball beats South San
On Friday, April 9, the Judson Rockets faced off against the South San Bobcats.
To start the top of the first inning, junior Keely Williams hit a single and junior Mimi Thornton hit a foul ball which allowed Williams to steal second. Thornton hit a single and got an RBI from Williams giving the Rockets the first run of the game. Junior Emely Ayala got walked and soon after senior Lauryn Ramos got an RBI from Thornton to end the top of the first. At the start of the bottom, all of South San’s batters were struck out, ending the first inning with Rockets leading 2-0
During the top of the second, junior Arianna Alejandro hit a single and ended up stealing second. Shortly after, Williams hit a home run scoring an RBI and a run for herself putting the Rockets up 4-0 ending the top of the second. To start the bottom of the second, all of South San’s batters struck out, ending the second inning.
At the start of the third inning, all of the Bobcat’s batters were ruled out once more, ending the top of the third. At the bottom of the third, Ramos hit a double, which was followed by a single by senior Samara Sanchez who also stole second. Junior Queenandra Dunn hit a pop fly but it led to an RBI by Ramos and Sanchez putting the Rockets up 6-0, ending the bottom of the third.
During the top of the 4th, all of South San’s batters were once again either struck out or ruled out ending the top of the fourth. To begin the bottom of the fourth, all of the Rockets batters were ruled out ending the 4th inning.
To start the top of the fifth, all of South San’s batters were struck out, ending the top of the fifth. To start the bottom and final inning, Ramos was walked, and shortly after Sanchez was walked as well. Senior Aliyah Pacheco hit a single and tried stealing second but during the process, Ramos ran home scoring a run putting rockets up 7-0. Junior Jada Leal hit a single which was followed by a single by Alejandro which loaded all three bases for Williams. Williams hit a single and brought in two RBI’s putting the rockets up 9-0. Junior Destiny Rodriguez hit a single which gave an RBI ending the game with the rockets winning 10-0
The Lady Rockets will play the East Central Hornets on Tuesday, April 13 at home.
