After coming off a 3-0  loss against New Braunfels, the Lady Rockets faced Steele Knights (3-5) at Judson’s home court. Despite a 1-7 record in district, the Rockets weren’t willing to give up easily against a tough Steele team.

Before the game started, head coach Shannon Harrison gave the team a confident pre game speech on how they should never give up, even when the odds are against them, and to play as hard as possible. Most importantly, to have fun.

“I feel very confident,” Harrison said. “If we play our game, we’ll come out with a win.”

In the first set, Judson took an early time out to make adjustments to the lineup with the score of 1-5, Steele. With that time out, the Rockets slowly started making a comeback to make the score 10-14, Steele. In the middle of the first set, the Knights took a timeout to make a game winning plan to seal the first set, which resulted in a Steele win, 14-25.

The second set started off fast with both teams, making the score 5-5 before Steele calling a timeout. Leading the way for the Rockets was junior Julie Coldwater taking two of the first five points early in the game. With a fired up crowd and a fired up bench, the Rockets managed to make it a close game by a score of 18-22, Steele in front. Despite the players being fired up and playing well, Steele managed to win the second set with the score of 20-25. Steele is up 2-0.

With Steele being up two sets, Harrison made an emotional speech to her girls to go out and do their best. With the third set starting, Judson took an early lead with a score of 6-4. With the odds against them, the Rockets refuse to stop fighting, which lead to Steele taking a timeout to reset. Even with the lead and the momentum, Judson fell short to taking the game to a fourth set. Steele won with a score of 16-25 and taking the game with three out of five sets.

The Rockets fell to a record of 1-8 in district and are hoping to redeem themselves when the face off against East Central (2-7) at home.
