Baseball falls to East Central

The baseball team high fives East Central after their lost. After this game, they have two more away games for the season.

On Friday, April 12, 2019, the Judson Rockets (1-9) faced off against the East Central Hornets (9-1) at home.

To begin the first inning, all of East Centrals batters got called out after a great double play from freshman Michael Burroughs of Judson to end the top of the first. To start the bottom of the first, all of Judson’s batters got struck out to end the first inning.

At the top of the second inning, sophomore Alex Prado of East Central hit a double and then stole third to set up senior Taylor Neil to hit a single, which ended the top of the second inning after the rest of the batters got called out. To start the bottom of the second inning, all of Judson’s batters got called out to end the second with the score 0-0.

To begin the top of the third inning, with bases loaded, all of the following East Centrals batters got tagged out to end the top of the third. At the bottom of the third, senior Christopher Fuller of Judson hit a home run for Judson first run of the game to end the inning with Judson leading 1-0.

At the top of the fourth, all of East Centrals batters got called out to end the top of the inning. To start the bottom of the fourth, senior Mason Gombas got walked but got called out to set up senior Gabriel Jellison to hit a single. After sophomore Kameron Lopez got walked, Jellison and Lopez stole third and second. As the rest of Judson’s batters got tagged out, the Rockets still lead 1-0 at the end of the fourth inning.

To begin the fifth inning, after senior Tyler Vivier of East Central got walked and stole second, junior Logan Taylor also got walked which ended the top of the fifth. At the bottom of the fifth, senior Jacob Ramos got walked and stole second, which ended the fifth inning with the lead still 1-0.

At the top of the sixth inning, East Central got walked and stole second to allow sophomore Damion Gonzalez to hit a home run and give East Central their first and second runs of the game to end the top of the sixth. At the bottom of the sixth, all of Judson’s batters got called out to end the sixth inning with Judson trailing 2-0.

To begin the seventh inning, Taylor hit a double to allow senior Justin Gutierrez to hit a single which ended the top of the seventh as the rest of the batters got called out. At the bottom of the seventh, after Ramos got walked, senior Fabian Guerra hit a deep double to allow Ramos to run in for Judson’s second run of the game to force extra innings.

At the top of the eighth inning, after senior Jason Mascorro of East Central got walked, Gonzalez hit a single to set up Mascorro to run in for East Central’s third run of the game. After junior Salvatore Ramirez and Vivier hit singles, junior Nevan Smith hit a single to allow Ramirez to run in for the fourth run of the game to end the top of the eighth. At the bottom of the eighth, all of Judson’s batters got called out to end the game with Judson losing to East Central 4-2.  

The Judson Rockets (1-10) will face off against the Clemens Unicorns (4-7) on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.
