Senior Keronn Napoleon spies on the quarterback before the snap. Judson won the game 56-21, ahead of their game this week against Reagan.

On Friday, November 15, 2019, the Judson Rockets (9-1) faced off against the Hays Rebels at D.W Rutledge Stadium for the first round of the 2019-2020 playoffs.

To begin the first quarter, senior Mike Chandler ran in for Judson’s first touchdown of the game just after the first couple plays. Judson lead 7-0 with 9:01 left in the first. After Both teams shut each other down on defense, the first quarter ended with the Rockets in the lead 7-0. 

To start the second quarter, junior De’Anthony Lewis ran in for another Judson touchdown to make the score 14-0. Senior Antony Shelton caught a slant route touchdown to make the score 21-0 with 5:58 left in the second. Junior Davion Wilson tiptoed in the corner of the end zone to score another Judson touchdown to make the score to 28-0 going into halftime after a high scoring second quarter.

To begin the third quarter, the Rockets put pressure on the Rebel’s defense as they caused a fumble to put the Rockets on the 11-yard line. Junior Trey Brown ran in for another Judson touchdown to set up Hays to finally score their first touchdown of the game to make the score 35-7 with 5:32 left in the third. Lewis ran in for Judson’s sixth touchdown of the game. Soon after, Hays scored their second touchdown to make it 42-14. Chandler scored yet another touchdown to conclude the third quarter with Judson in the lead 49-14. 

To start the fourth quarter, Hays scored their third touchdown of the game to make the score 49-21. Sophomore Micheal Burroughs ran in for Judsons eight touchdown of the game to make the score 56-21, which ended the game as the Judson Rockets defeated the Hays Rebels in the first round of the playoffs. 

The Judson Rockets (10-1) will face the Reagan Rattlers on Friday, November 22, 2019. The game will take place at Alamo Stadium. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m.
