Softball beats Reagan
On Tuesday 25, 2020, Judson Rockets (2-2) faced off against the Reagan Rattlers (0-6) at home.
To start the game, junior pitcher Samara Sanchez led the Rockets to not allow a single hitter on base their first time on defense, which ended the top of the first. To start the bottom of the first, senior Kaili Luna hit a single, which set up sophomore Destiny Rodriguez to get walked. After Luna stole third base, Sanchez got walked and got subbed out for Senior Jade Garcia, which set up sophomore Jada Leal hit a single to allow Rodriguez and Luna to run in for the first two runs of the game which made the score 2-0. Sophomore Arianna Alejandro hit a single to bring Garcia in for Judson’s third run of the game to end the first with Judson in the lead 3-0.
To start the top of the second, Sanchez threw three easy outs to end the top of the second. To start the bottom of the second, sophomore Daeja Spears stole home after freshman Queenandra Dunn hit a single which set up Luna to also hit a single, which brought Dunn home to make the score 5-0. After Rodriguez hit a single, Luna ran home which set up Sanchez to also hit a single and bring Rodriguez home to make the score 7-0. After Garcia was subbed in and got walked home, the second ended with Judson in the lead 8-0.
To begin the top of the third inning, two Reagan batters got on base but after their third hitter hit a deep ball over the middle. The Rockets were able to stop them from scoring and tagged the batter out to end the top of the third. To begin the bottom of the third, the Rockets got stopped quickly, which ended the third inning with the score remaining 8-0.
To start the top of the fourth inning, the Rockets yet again shut Reagan down and kept Reagan scoreless to end the top of the fourth. To start the bottom of the fourth, Leal hit a single to set up Alejandro to hit the first home run of the game which ended the fourth inning with the Rockets in the lead 10-0.
To begin the top of the fifth inning, one Reagan batter hit a single and stole second but that was short-lived, as Sanchez threw every other batter out to end the game as mercy rule went into place as the Rockets were up 10-0.
The Judson Rockets (3-2) will partake in a tournament vs the East Central Hornets (3-3) February 27-29 at both Judson and East-Central fields..
