Softball beats Steele

On Friday 29, 2018 the Judson Rockets (4-3) faced off against the Steele Knights (4-5) at Steele.
To start the first inning, after freshman Keely Williams of Judson hit a single, freshman Mimi Thornton hit a deep triple to allow Williams to score the first run of the game. Following senior Nyah Chapas single, freshman Jada Leal subbed in, and Thornton and Leal ran in for Judson’s second and third run of the game to end the top of the first. At the bottom of the first, after senior Alyssa Winter of Steele hit a triple and ran in for Steeles first run of the game, the rest of Steele’s batters got struck out to end the first with Judson leading 3-1.
To begin the second inning, after Williams stole third and Thornton hit a single and stole second, Williams ran to get Judson fourth run of the game to end the top of the second inning. At the bottom of the second, junior Brandalyn Dee of Steele hit a single to allow junior Lauren Anderson of Steele to also hit a single. After Dee ran in for Steele’s second run of the game, the second ended with Judson leading 4-2.
To start the third inning, after Chapa hit a double and got subbed out for Leal, junior Melissa Gonzalez hit a single to allow Leal to run in for Judson’s fifth run of the game, which ended the top of the third. At the bottom of the third, all three Steele batters got out to end the third.
At the top of the fourth, Williams hit a double, but the next three batters got tagged out to end the top of the fourth. At the bottom of the fourth, all three Steele batters got out to end the fourth with the lead still 5-2.
To start the fifth inning, Chapa hit a single but the other Judson batters got tagged out to end the top of the fifth. At the bottom of the fifth, all three Steele batters got called out to end the fifth inning.
At the top of the sixth, Junior Kaili Luna hit a single to allow sophomore Aliyah Pacheco to also hit a single and put Luna in scoring position. After Thornton got walked, Luna stole home for Judson’s sixth run of the game to end the top of the sixth with Judson up 6-2. At the bottom of the sixth, after sophomore Courtney Crowe of Steele stole third, Dee and Crowe ran in for Steele’s third and fourth runs of the game to end the sixth inning.
To begin the seventh inning, senior Kellise Ramos and Luna hit singles which allowed Pacheco to also hit another single, which set up Ramos to run in for Judson’s seventh run of the game and end the top of the seventh. At the bottom of the seventh, all three Steele batters got out which ended the game with Judson defeating Steele 7-4
The Judson Rockets (5-3) will face the San Marcos Rattlers (1-5) on April 2 2019 at home.
