The Judson Rockets (26-9) faced the Austin Maroons (15-3) on May 9, 2019, for round three of the 2019 high school softball playoffs at the San Marcos fields.

To begin the first inning, all of Austin’s batters got tagged out to end the top of the first. At the bottom of the first, all of Judson’s batters got called out to end the first with the score 0-0.

At the top of the second inning, Austin hit a single to set up their hitter to get walked but was short lived as the last batter got tagged out. At the bottom of the second, senior Nyah Chapa hit a single and got subbed for freshman Daejana Spears to allow Spears to steal second. After Spears stole third and home, the second ended with Judson leading 1-0.

To begin the third inning, three back-to-back singles set up one runner to steal home and end the top of the third with the score 1-1. At the bottom of the third inning, freshman Keely Williams got walked and stole second but was short lived as the rest of Judson’s batters got tagged out to end the third inning.

At the top of the fourth, all of Austin’s batters got tagged out to end the top. At the bottom of the fourth, Chapa hit a double, stole third and got subbed out for Spears to set up Spears to run in for Judson’s second run of the game, which ended the fourth with the score 2-1.

To begin the fifth inning, all of Austin’s batters got tagged out to end the top of the fifth. At the bottom of the fifth, all of Judson’s batters got tagged out to end the fifth.

At the top of the sixth inning, an Austin batter hit a double to allow another to hit a single and run in and tie the game 2-2. After a batter got walked, Ayala stuck the last batter out to end the top of the sixth. At the bottom of the sixth, freshman Destiny Rodriguez got walked and subbed to set up freshman Arianna Alejandro to steal second. After a double from Chapa, Alejandro ran in for Judson’s 3rd run of the game, which ended the sixth inning with the score 3-2.

To begin the seventh inning, Austin’s batter hit a single to set up a double. After a hitter got walked, Austin’s batter hit a double to allow three Austin batters to run in and make the score 5-3, which ended the top of the seventh. At the bottom of the seventh, the Judson Rockets were defeated 5-3 as all of their batters got called out.

Austin High School beat the Lady Rockets 5-3 to end the Rocket’s playoff run.
