The Rockets beat Reagan 34-24 on Friday, December 5, 2014. The Rockets will play Cypress Ranch on Friday, December 12, at the Alamodome.

In a position familiar to tradition, Judson High School took on the Reagan Rattlers on Friday, December 5, 2014, a game in which they won 34-24. Competition in the playoffs in December is a familiar place for our Judson football team.

“The tradition here at Judson means a lot to us as players,” junior Xavier Morris said. “We don’t treat each other as just another person. It’s a brotherhood. We ride or die for one another on and off the field.”

Judson’s football team has worked hard with unity. Although the team lost players who had played during the Thanksgiving break, the football team has succeeded nonetheless, continuing successfully through the playoffs.

“We don’t worry about things that we cannot control, like injuries,” Morris said. “If one man goes down, the next man steps up to the plate. If we worry about one player, we lose focus on the major prize which is state.”

To get to this point in the playoffs, Judson defeated football powerhouses such as Churchill, O’Connor, Laredo United, and Reagan. In the eyes of Morris, the hardest team to compete against is not an area school.

“I believe that our hardest opponent we have is ourselves. As long as we play for one another then the sky is the limit,” Morris said.

“It feels great to be in the playoffs, but that’s only part of the goal we set since day one. The ultimate goal is to go to the AT&T Stadium.”

This weekend, Judson will face Cypress Ranch High School out of Katy. If the Rockets win this game, they will play for a 7th state championship.
