Dedicated Parents Help Band Succeed

From stadiums to competitions, the band and drum line travel along with their instruments and back. Thanks to the Judson Load Crew, a group of volunteer parents, transporting all the instruments and students is possible.
The Load Crew is a group of ten to twenty dedicated parents who volunteer to load instruments for the band. This ensures proper placement and little to no damage done to any of the instruments. This also helps the students get ready and on the busses in time.
Their primary job is to transport the instruments and unload them to the students.
Football games are they’re main priority, with three things in mind. Transport, unload and support.
During competition season in October, band has to travel to several stadiums. In the process of the competition, the band must set up in a certain amount of time in order to receive a good score. In able to set up in the quickest time possible, the Load Crew helps the students set up and prepare.
The band includes the brass instruments, percussion, the drum line, and all the technical parts such as speakers and microphones. Everything must be set up in a total of 5 minutes. “It’s a stressful, but exciting month and we look forward to it every October,” senior Emmanuel Rivera.
“Being a part of the Load Crew is a very important job, and requires a lot of patience and time,” parent Karina Contreras stated. With all the students and all the instruments, Judson wouldn’t be as successful if it wasn’t for these parents who give up their Friday nights and weekends for these children.
As the Mighty Rocket Band heads to competition this Saturday October 8th,, we have no doubt that they’ll succeed with a good score and a great time.
