Sophomore Kyra White is a star shooting guard on Judson’s girls varsity basketball team. As a child, White always involved herself in basketball, which has influenced her aspiring love for the sport.
“I like basketball because I was raised around it,” White said. “It’s something I’m good at. I fell in love with it.”
She began to play basketball when she was little. At first, it was for entertainment that eventually evolved to her playing competitively. Either way, she was doing what she loved.
“I started playing basketball when I was in second grade, but competitively in fourth grade,” White said.
Strength and skill wise, White does exceptional on the court and is continuously improving many of her abilities.
“I’m great at seeing the court very well,” White said. “My passing and shooting ability is getting better.”
White faces challenges that tests her ability, but she makes them a priority to conquer them.
“My biggest conflict is probably my defense, but I’m just practicing working harder and trying my best to get better at it,” White said.
From an early age, many people know where they want to be in the future and have a plan to make their vision into reality. While others aren’t sure of their plans, White can somewhat now envision her future.
“I see myself at a college on a full-ride scholarship, playing basketball,” White said. “I don’t know what it is, but I want to be something in the medical field helping others.”
It’s natural to feel stress before a game or even facing a tough opponent. Positive pressure can help a person rise up to a challenge and meet it with alertness, focus, and strength.
“When it comes to pressure and stressful situations, I just talk to people about it. Other times, I just stay focus and keep my head straight,” White said.
Besides playing basketball, White also enjoys hanging out with friends and watching sport related matter.
“I love watching football,” White said. “I also like stuff that deals with other sports.”
Motivation to become successful in life comes easy when White is doing something she loves. She hopes to continue a good basketball season career and to progress in her academic life.
